Design Leadership

My name is David Herring. I have over 15 years of experience in the digital design industry, helping organizations gain better insights into their customers and leading design teams as we create innovative, world-class products.

Design Thinking

Leading collaborative activities to frame questions, build a vision, and solve problems for users.

Design Doing

Rolling up my sleeves and digging into design solutions for product and service-related issues.

Design Culture

Getting design a seat at the table then helping bring a user-centered approach into everything else.

Design Ops

Scaling the value of design by standardizing and optimizing the way we work, collaborate, and create impact.

Standardize. Harmonize. Prioritize.

Design Operations

When your designers work in a fast-paced agile environment and are outnumbered by developers 20:1, the only way to scale the value of design is to develop partnerships across domains, then standardize and optimize design operations.

Access. Inclusion. At Scale.

Accessibility at Scale

Designers, developers, and PMs shouldn’t all have to be experts at accessibility to build accessible things.

By offloading much of the educational effort – baking it into existing tools and processes where you can, and providing clear resources where you can’t – you can scale accessibility in an organization of any size.

Standardized. Documented. Repeatable.

Design Systems

I know the power of design systems in providing a single source of truth, managing tech and UX debt, and adding speed and efficiency for both designers and developers.

I also know they require upkeep, support, and evangelization to actually work… because I’ve helped build 3.
